Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976 she became a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years after that as a general reporter. The year 1980 marked the beginning of her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell hosted and participated as a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. She participated as a member of the panel during 1988 presidential debates between George Bush, and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the prestigious Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell with the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contributions to the protection and protection of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered for the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988, during both Ronald Reagan's terms as President. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to numerous summits in the company of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
